History and Methodology
The Abbey Company was formed in early 1990 by Donald G. Abbey, after four years as managing partner for a Honolulu based acquisition group that became three public R.E.I.T.’s. The Abbey Company was started with one property and two management contracts and has since closed over 7,000 transactions with $5 billion in value.
"The Abbey Company has a 32-year history of successfully executing a value-add strategy that is focused on a project/ regional office structure augmented by a vertical integration of Real Estate strategy. We are hands-on for asset management, acquisitions, legal, project management, construction services, engineering, and leasing. Our on-site managers respond immediately to tenant issues, our in-house engineering group respond daily to the requirements of our portfolio, and our leasing process results in 80% of all transactions closed without brokers. The Abbey Company focuses on partnering with our tenants via regular management, personal contact, and property services executed by regional employees. This concentrated management approach and partnership with our tenant base yields greater financial performance, tenant retention, and overall product occupancy compared to other competitors in the marketplace."
